Terms of Service

Last updated: October 7, 2026

Propel is operated by PROPEL APP LTD, a company registered in England and Wales under company number 17492317, with its registered office at 20 Wenlock Road, London, N1 7GU, United Kingdom ("Company," "we," "us," or "our").

Please read these terms carefully before using Propel. By creating an account or using the app, you agree to be bound by them.

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales (see Section 17). Propel is available to users worldwide — if you are located outside the UK, you retain any additional or non-waivable rights your local consumer protection law provides, and nothing here limits those rights.

1. What Propel Is (and Is Not)

Propel is a personal productivity and AI coaching application. It helps you set goals, build habits, manage tasks, and reflect on your progress through an AI-powered coach.

The AI coach is not a substitute for professional help. Specifically:

  • It is not therapy and does not constitute mental health treatment or psychological advice.
  • It is not medical advice. Nothing in the app should be used to diagnose, treat, or manage a medical condition.
  • It is not financial advice. Do not make investment or financial decisions based on the coach's responses.
  • It is not legal advice.

If you are experiencing a mental health crisis, medical emergency, or thoughts of self-harm, please contact a qualified professional or emergency services immediately. Propel is not equipped to handle emergencies.

2. Crisis and Safety Situations

If you tell the coach something that suggests a risk of self-harm, suicide, or harm to others, it's designed to respond by pointing you toward emergency services or a crisis helpline — for example, in the UK, Samaritans at 116 123 (free, 24/7) or 999 in an emergency; in the US, the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline; in other countries, your local emergency number or crisis line.

The coach is not a crisis intervention service and cannot contact emergency services on your behalf. If you or someone else is in immediate danger, contact emergency services directly — don't rely on the app to do this for you.

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use Propel, and if you are under 18, you must have your parent or guardian's permission. We do not verify age at sign-up — by creating an account, you are personally representing to us that you meet these requirements, and you are responsible for that representation being true.

4. Your Account

  • You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure.
  • You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.
  • You must provide accurate information when creating your account.
  • One person, one account. You may not share your account with others or create accounts on behalf of others without their consent.
  • Notify us immediately at support@propelcoach.app if you suspect unauthorized access to your account.

5. Subscription and Billing

Propel Pro is a monthly recurring subscription — full access to the AI coach, advanced tracking, and all Pro features. There is no free trial: full access begins immediately once you subscribe.

  • Introductory price: new subscribers pay $6 for their first billing period (or local currency equivalent).
  • Standard price: from your 2nd billing period onward, your subscription renews at the standard rate of $12/month (or local currency equivalent), unless we've changed pricing generally with notice as described below.
  • Payment is processed by Stripe and charged to the card you provide at checkout.
  • Your subscription renews automatically each month at the applicable price above, until you cancel.
  • You can cancel any time from your account settings (in the app, or on our website) or by emailing support@propelcoach.app; cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period, and you keep Pro access until then.
  • Cancelling is separate from deleting your account (see Section 14) — cancelling your subscription does not delete your account or data, and deleting your account cancels your subscription immediately rather than at the end of your billing period. If you want to keep Pro access for the rest of a period you've already paid for, cancel here rather than deleting your account.
  • Refunds: we do not provide refunds for partial or unused billing periods, except where required by law. If you believe you were charged in error, email support@propelcoach.app.
  • Cooling-off period (UK/EU consumers): under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 (and equivalent EU law), you would normally have 14 days to cancel a distance purchase for a full refund. Because Propel Pro gives you immediate, full access to digital content and AI coaching from the moment of purchase, by subscribing you expressly request immediate access and acknowledge that you lose this 14-day cancellation right once the service has begun, in line with the regulations' digital content exception. This does not affect your right to cancel future renewals at any time as described above.
  • Prices are displayed before purchase in the currency applicable to your checkout method. We reserve the right to change prices with reasonable advance notice.

6. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use Propel for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable laws.
  • Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract the source code of the app.
  • Probe, scan, or test the security of our systems.
  • Send automated requests to our API at volumes that exceed normal human usage.
  • Impersonate another person or entity.
  • Use the app to harass, abuse, or harm others.
  • Circumvent any access controls, paywalls, or rate limits.
  • Attempt to access another user's data.

We reserve the right to terminate accounts that violate these rules without notice.

7. Your Content

You own the content you create in Propel — your goals, habits, and messages. By using the app, you grant us a limited license to store and process your content solely to operate the service (for example, to send it to the AI model to generate responses).

We do not claim ownership of your content and we do not use it for any purpose beyond operating Propel for you.

8. AI Limitations and Accuracy

You are interacting with an artificial intelligence system, not a human being. The AI coach is powered by a large language model (Anthropic Claude). To generate each response, we send Anthropic your message along with relevant context needed to personalise it — your recent conversation, active goals/habits/tasks, streak, and a summary of what the coach has learned about you over time. Semantic search over your past conversations is separately powered by OpenAI. Neither company uses this data to train their models by default. See our Privacy Policy, section 5, for the full, itemised list of what's included in every prompt. You should be aware that:

  • AI responses can be incorrect, outdated, or inappropriate. Always apply your own judgment.
  • The coach has no real-world knowledge of your situation beyond what you tell it.
  • The coach may sometimes give confident-sounding responses that are factually wrong.
  • Coaching responses are generated automatically. There is no human reviewing them in real time.
  • The coach is not certified, licensed, or regulated in any professional capacity.

We make no warranty that the AI coach's advice will lead to any particular outcome. Use it as one input among many, not as a sole authority.

9. Service Availability

We aim to keep Propel available and functional, but we are a small team and cannot guarantee uninterrupted service.

  • We may take the service down for maintenance with or without notice.
  • Features may change, be added, or be removed over time.
  • We are dependent on third-party services (Anthropic, Supabase, Vercel, Stripe). Outages in those services will affect Propel.
  • We do not provide an uptime guarantee or SLA for free or paid users.

10. Intellectual Property

The Propel app, its design, code, branding, and non-user-generated content are owned by us and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from them without our written permission. Your personal data and the content you create remain yours — see Section 7.

11. Disclaimers

Propel is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties including:

  • Implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
  • That the service will be error-free, secure, or continuously available.
  • That results obtained from using the app will be accurate or reliable.
  • That any defects will be corrected.

Nothing in this section excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded under UK law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or fraudulent misrepresentation.

12. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we will not be liable for:

  • Any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages.
  • Loss of data, profits, goodwill, or other intangible losses.
  • Damages arising from your reliance on AI-generated advice.
  • Damages caused by service outages or third-party failures.

Where liability cannot be excluded by law, our total liability to you for any claims arising from your use of Propel will not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or $50, whichever is greater. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits rights you have as a consumer that cannot lawfully be excluded, including your statutory rights under the UK Consumer Rights Act 2015 or equivalent local consumer protection law.

13. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from any claims, losses, or damages (including legal fees) arising from your use of Propel in violation of these terms, or from content you submit to the service.

14. Termination

By you: You may delete your account at any time from your profile settings. Deletion is permanent and removes all your data from our active database. Deleting your account also cancels an active subscription immediately, as part of the same action — you will not be charged again, but you also forfeit any time remaining on a billing period you have already paid for; we do not refund it. If you would rather keep Pro access until your current period naturally ends, cancel your subscription (see Section 5) without deleting your account.

By us: We may suspend or terminate your account at any time if you violate these terms, if we believe your use threatens the security or integrity of the service, or if we discontinue Propel. Where practical, we will give you notice and an opportunity to export your data before termination.

15. Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms as the service evolves. We will notify you of material changes by updating the date at the top and, where appropriate, via email or in-app notification. Your continued use of Propel after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the updated terms. If you disagree with a change, you may delete your account before the effective date.

16. Dispute Resolution

Please read this section carefully — it affects your legal rights.

If a dispute arises out of or relating to these terms or the service, we'll first try to resolve it through good-faith informal negotiation — contact us at support@propelcoach.app.

UK and EU consumers: if you are a consumer resident in the UK or the EEA, you are entitled to bring any unresolved dispute before the competent courts of your own country of residence, and nothing in these terms takes away that right. The arbitration and class-action provisions below do not apply to you as a consumer where local law makes them unenforceable, and are not intended to override your statutory rights under the UK Consumer Rights Act 2015 or equivalent EU consumer protection law.

Consumers elsewhere: if a dispute isn't resolved informally within 30 days, and you are not protected by the consumer provisions above, you and we agree to resolve it through binding arbitration rather than in court, except that either party may bring an individual claim in small claims court where eligible.

Class action waiver: to the extent permitted by applicable law, any arbitration or proceeding is limited to the dispute between us individually — you waive any right to participate in a class, consolidated, or representative action. This waiver does not apply where prohibited by applicable consumer protection law in your jurisdiction.

17. Governing Law

These terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales, without regard to conflict of law principles. Subject to Section 16 (Dispute Resolution), the courts of England and Wales have non-exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute not subject to arbitration. If you are a consumer resident elsewhere and local law gives you the right to bring proceedings in your own country's courts, or grants you the protection of your own country's mandatory consumer laws, that right and that protection are preserved.
